The Swiss HLG developed the Good Partnering Practices to provide a set of professional and structured principles to facilitate partnering and to provide a best practice framework in Business Development & Licensing.
Pior to this, there was a lack of documented references to commonly accepted practices in the dealmaking journey, and information was generally shared within companies by more senior individuals or acquired through experience.
Through “talking tables” at various conferences, over 500 business development executives shared their experiences which were consolidated into a set of recommendations. The GPPs have been presented and discussed at professional conventions, such as the Swiss HLG annual flagship Conference, the German PLCD and the IPLS.
Swiss HLG therefore created the Good Partnering Practice initiative, a series of videos and a booklet, to promote commonly accepted principles, terms and processes

Our Start-up Initiative helps emerging biopharma companies become ¨fit for partnerting, equipping them with helpful skills and tools.
For many years, Swiss HLG has demonstrated its commitment to the start-up and young professional/academic community. Our first targeted events for this group were delivered in 2012/2013, in Lausanne and Geneva. The success of these events only cemented our drive to continue in this direction.
At Swiss HLG, we know that one of the key success factors for the start-up community is to understand how to best tell and pitch their story, plan and execute negotiations, and value their assets, platforms and companies. Working in collaboration with Johnson&Johnson and BaseLaunch, a dedicated sub-team of the Swiss HLG Board has developed a new complimentary series of four linked half-day workshops.
These new workshops were first offered to a cohort of 30 start-ups in 2023 with excellent feedback, and so we are offering them again in 2024. Swiss HLG would like to thank Johnson&Johnson, BaseLaunch and other partners including Venture Valuation, SIX for their valued support.
